Mahindra Halts XUV300 Bookings

Mahindra, the Indian XUV maker, has made headlines by announcing the suspension of orders for its popular entry-level compact SUV, the XUV300 in India. This decision comes as the company prepares to do the something much-anticipated facelift of the model, which is currently undergoing testing and is expected to hit the market in the coming months.

During an investor meeting, Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO of Mahindra’s Auto and Farm Sector, shed light on the situation surrounding the XUV300. He mentioned that the halt in bookings is part of a strategic move tied to the upcoming mid-cycle refresh of the model. This refresh is required to bring significant updates and enhancements to the XUV300, marking a new chapter for the SUV.

But despite the halt in official bookings, some dealers are still accepting orders for the existing inventory of XUV300s. Mahindra has also assured customers that it will work to fulfill outstanding orders during this transitional phase by reducing manufacturing of the current model. However, this reduction in production is only temporary as the company progresses towards the launch of the redesigned XUV300.

Redesigned XUV300

The upcoming facelift of the XUV300 is expected to be a game-changer, featuring significant design alterations compared to its predecessor. Some social media photos have revealed a revised front profile with a modified grille, updated bumper, and new lighting arrangement inspired by the XUV700. Additionally, the SUV will sport updated alloy wheels and a connected LED taillight system for a refreshed rear profile.

Interior and Features Overhaul

The interior of the XUV300 is also set for major changes. Looks like inspiration by the recently launched XUV400 EL Pro variant, the facelifted XUV300 is expected to boast a larger infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, redesigned dashboard, and center console layout. It will also be equipped with premium features like a 360-degree surround camera, automatic climate control, wireless charger, and powered driver seat.

Powertrain and Pricing

Under the hood, the new XUV300 will retain its reliable powertrain options, including the 1.2-liter petrol and 1.5-liter diesel engines. Both manual and automatic transmission options will be available, offering versatility to drivers. As for pricing, the facelifted XUV300 is expected to start at around Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom), remaining competitive in its segment against rivals like the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Maruti Brezza.

Mahindra’s decision to halt XUV300 bookings marks an exciting chapter for the SUV, as it undergoes a comprehensive makeover to offer customers an enhanced driving experience. Stay tuned for more updates as we eagerly await the launch of the redesigned XUV300 in May 2024.
