Fortunately, Mahindra has now announced the impending launch of the facelifted version of the XUV300 in February 2024. This refresh promises to inject new life into the model and help it reclaim its position in the segment. Let’s delve into what the new Mahindra XUV300 has to offer.
Design Overhaul
To better compete with rivals like the Tata Nexon, Mahindra has given the XUV300 facelift a significant design overhaul, particularly focusing on the front and rear. Drawing inspiration from Mahindra’s upcoming BE (Born Electric) SUV lineup expected by 2025, the facelift boasts a more angular front fascia. Expect to see a redesigned drop-down LED daytime running lamp, a revised bumper, a new headlamp assembly, and an updated two-part grille with a larger central air intake. Additionally, the 16-inch alloy wheels will sport a fresh design.
At the rear, the XUV300 will feature a smoother and completely redesigned tailgate, possibly incorporating a full-width LED light bar. The tail lamps will adopt a sleeker, C-shaped design, while the registration plate will find its place on the bumper rather than the tailgate.
Enhanced Interiors and Features
Inside the cabin, expect to find a revamped center console and redesigned AC control panel. While Mahindra has not yet disclosed specific features, anticipate segment-first additions such as a panoramic sunroof and a larger 10.25-inch infotainment screen.
Engine and Transmission Options
Under the hood, the XUV300 facelift is expected to retain its current engine lineup, including the 1.5-liter diesel, 1.2-liter turbo petrol, and 1.2-liter direct injection turbo petrol (TGDI) engines. Transmission options will likely remain unchanged with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed AMT. However, a notable addition will be the availability of an Aisin-sourced 6-speed torque converter automatic paired with the 1.2-liter turbo-petrol (TGDI) engine, offering a smoother driving experience.
Launch and Competition
Mahindra will announce the prices of the facelifted XUV300 in February 2024, pitting it against competitors such as the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Maruti Fronx, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger. Additionally, there are plans for an electric variant of the XUV300, positioned below the XUV400 EV.
With these updates, the facelifted Mahindra XUV300 is poised to offer a refreshed design, enhanced features, and a competitive edge in the compact SUV segment.”
